After a nationwide poll, it is time to say goodbye to three beloved Monopoly game pieces.

Hasbro, the manufacturer of Monopoly, revealed on Friday that wheelbarrow and boot game pieces would not be included in the upcoming version of the game. It was previously announced that the thimble would also be removed from the upcoming iteration of the game.

Hasbro conducted a nationwide poll earlier this year asking fans to pick all eight Monopoly tokens for the game's latest version. Fans were asked to pick from a list that included the game's current tokens as well as new options. The new game piece options included some modern options like a hashtag, an emoji, and a cell phone.

So we all sort of expected any outgoing pieces to be replaced with modern items, right?

"Hey, pass the emoji game piece," was totally something we were ready to say.

Well, that's not going to be the case. Are you ready for this? A T-Rex, a rubber ducky, and a penguin will be joining the game. They'll join the "classic pieces" like Scottie the dog, the hat, the car, the cat and the battleship when the latest version of the classic game is released later this year.

The new version of the game is expected to hit stores in August. Board game sales, by the way, are seeing a revival. CNBC actually reported that sales of games and puzzles grew from $9.3 billion in 2013 to $9.6 billion in 2016. Millennials are actually leading the increase in sales.
